I came across this in my Bible reading today:

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” – Revelation 7:9-10

Sometimes it’s good to see where the story is going, and the book of Revelation is just the place for that. Here John is shown that God’s plan is to draw worshipers to himself from every tribe, tongue, and nation. It’s a prevailing theme throughout the book of Revelation. And their worship is always centered around Jesus. They have palm branches in hand, just as they did on that day when Jesus entered Jerusalem. And they are before the Lamb – and there is only one person who is the Lamb of God – Jesus himself. Remember the declaration at the beginning of John’s gospel: There comes the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world!

There is salvation in no other name (Acts 4) than Jesus Christ. He is the Redeemer, the Savior, and God of the universe. Let us always be looking back at the cross to see what he has done for us, then get excited about the present, where, empowered by the Holy Spirit, we have the ability to worship him and please him in our lives now, sharing the gospel message with those who need to hear it. But we’re always looking forward, one foot in this present reality and one foot in heaven, because our future is guaranteed. We’re a part of that great big plan of God, we’re one of the worshipers envisioned here. So be committed to God’s diverse, wide-ranging salvation in the world.
